WhatsApp is getting an AI upgrade. Meta Business Agent (MBA) is Meta’s new enterprise AI agent that talks to your customers directly on WhatsApp, in your brand’s voice, answering from your own knowledge, taking actions in your systems through connectors, and handing off to your app or a human when it needs to. Once enabled, it becomes the primary responder on a WhatsApp phone number.
That’s a big shift. For years, brands have owned every reply on their WhatsApp number, built through their own bots, agents, or support teams. MBA changes the model: Meta’s agent sits in front of the conversation. For businesses and partners running WhatsApp at scale, that raises real questions: is our number eligible? What do we need to configure, and in what order? What breaks along the way, and who tells us before it happens?
This is exactly where 360Dialog steps in.
A brand-new platform means real rough edges
MBA is new, and Meta is still actively shipping and refining core pieces of it: billing, some handoff behaviors, and file handling are all still evolving. That’s not a knock on the product; it’s the reality of any early-access enterprise platform. But it means teams rolling it out on their own can hit avoidable friction: eligibility checks that return a confusing server error instead of a clean “not eligible,” API calls blocked by CORS if called from the wrong place, terms-of-service acceptance that has to come from exactly the right account, region restrictions that lifted but still trip people up.
None of these gaps are dealbreakers. But hitting them blind, mid-rollout, with customers already in the funnel, is the difference between a smooth launch and a scramble.
360Dialog has already been through the full journey (checking eligibility, enabling and accepting terms, configuring knowledge and skills, testing, going live with an allowlist, and rolling out to everyone) and has documented every rough edge found along the way, with a workaround for each one. Where something is still incomplete on Meta’s side, that’s called out directly, along with confirmation that it’s already been raised with Meta. Clients and partners don’t have to discover these gaps the hard way; the map already exists.
Two ways to onboard, one partner either way
360Dialog is also building flexibility into how businesses and partners bring MBA online, because not everyone wants to build the same thing:
- Via API (available today): full control. Teams that want to build MBA management directly into their own dashboard, or offer it to their own clients as part of a custom product, can drive the entire lifecycle themselves: eligibility, onboarding, configuration, testing, and rollout control, all through the API businesses already use with 360Dialog.
- MBA Integrated Onboarding (coming August 1): a hosted, guided flow, similar to 360Dialog’s existing Number Integrated Onboarding, but purpose-built for Meta Business Agent. Instead of building the onboarding steps from scratch, partners point their users into the flow and let it handle setup, including terms acceptance and number onboarding.
The two paths aren’t a fork in the road; they’re the same underlying agent, reached differently. A business can start on the API path now for full control, and adopt Integrated Onboarding later for a lower-effort experience, without switching providers or rebuilding anything.
What “go-to partner” actually means here
For 360Dialog, being the go-to partner for MBA isn’t a slogan; it’s the combination of three concrete things:
1. Overcoming complexity. A six-step journey (eligibility, enablement, configuration, testing, allowlist go-live, and full rollout) condensed into clear guidance, with the exact requirements spelled out up front: an eligible WABA on Cloud API, Business Manager access to accept Meta’s Business AI Terms, and a 360Dialog API key.
2. Closing the gaps. A living, categorized record of known limitations, from eligibility and access issues to testing quirks, each paired with a practical workaround, so teams aren’t left guessing when something doesn’t behave as expected.
3. Delivering real support. A partner that has already run this rollout, flagged what’s still maturing, and built two distinct onboarding paths so businesses of every size and technical capacity can adopt MBA on their own terms.
The takeaway
Meta Business Agent is a major step forward for WhatsApp. But like any new enterprise AI platform, the difference between a rocky rollout and a confident one comes down to who’s guiding the transition. With a documented journey, a running list of gaps and fixes, and two onboarding paths built for different needs, 360Dialog is positioned to be exactly that guide: the partner that gets clients and partners onto Meta Business Agent smoothly, with fewer surprises and faster time to value.
